Information on Assessment
In Year 6 we base our assessments on the Department for Education's expected standard for students at the end of the year. If a student is at the expected standard, they will be awarded an E. If they are not at the expected standard yet, they will be awarded a B, and if they are working at a standard above the expected they will be graded A. Each of these levels is divided into two "sublevels" - a 1 indicates that a student is towards the top end of the awarded level.

Thus in Year 6 we expect a "typical" student to start the year at B1 and move to E1 by the end of Year 6.

In KS3 we also use B if a student hasn't yet reached the level expected at the end of the year, but then we use a numerical scale from 1 upwards. Again, each grade is sub-divided with + indicating that a student is towards the top of that level. We expect a "typical" student to start Year 7 at B1 and to move to 2+ or 3 by the end of Year 8.
