Welcome to Blackminster Middle School

The ages between 10 and 13 are crucial in a child’s life. It’s these years when your child will grow into a young person and lay the foundations of the adult they will become. You won’t find a better partner to help them on this journey than Blackminster Middle School.

You see, we’re not just a school – we’re a family.

Pebworth First and Blackminster Middle Schools have been working in Federation since 2012.

Big enough to cope, small enough to care

Whether your child is academic, sporty, musical, shy, outgoing, practical, dreamy, whatever their individual learning needs – they will find their place here and we will work with you to help them become who they really want to be.

“Big enough to cope, small enough to care” has become a bit of a cliché in the business world, but here at Blackminster it’s true. We’re big enough to offer many of the advantages of secondary schools but small enough to really know and nurture every student.

Skilled subject experts

We have a vibrant curriculum, combining the best aspects of primary school with the specialist teaching and facilities normally only available in secondaries. Our students’ needs are neither eclipsed by those of children much younger, nor relegated to second place by the exam-related priorities of older students – these crucial middle years are what we do!

Our staff are second to none – skilled subject experts but caring and flexible enough to offer warmth and challenge in equal measure.

A supportive framework

We offer a carefully planned blend of increasing independence for your child, but always within a supportive framework. Students and parents have access to our online homework and reward systems, encouraging students to take responsibility for and pride in their work whilst keeping parents and carers informed. It’s all part of our drive to involve parents in strong partnerships that support our children.

More engaging than ever

We are unapologetically ambitious for our students, and they are given opportunities here that simply are not available to children of their age in most schools. Our prefects are all 12 and 13 years old, and our AntiBullying Ambassador program is open to students from Year 6 upwards. It’s just the right amount of challenge without being overwhelming.

This is an exciting time for the Blackminster family. Our federation with Pebworth First School is going from strength to strength; our numbers are increasing as local parents recognize the uniqueness of what we offer; our results in national tests are improving year on year; and our planned program of improvement means that our site and facilities are brighter, more attractive and more engaging than ever.

Don't just take my word for it

However, don’t just take my word for it – come and see us! Take a look at our website, check out our Facebook page and get in touch. Our lovely admin staff will be delighted to hear from you, and will arrange a time for you to come and see what it is that makes Blackminster Middle School so very special. I look forward to welcoming you to the family.
